  3. Hey Ger:

I never saw the Al Wertheimer photo of Elvis and the guys eating and drinking Pepsi before. Was it in one of his books, or do you have a special pipeline into his archives?

  4. Hi there Phil, the ElvisBlog man! Found it in a box of old clippings while preparing
this topic. It’s not one seen often, agreed.

  5. Nice pic of the boys eating. That must be from the Hound Dog sessions?

  6. Nice to see you’ve added some kool refreshing new pix to my topic, Bob.

  7. To be honest, a couple of those pictures show him with Coke, not Pepsi.

Which ones are you referring to James?

      October 4, 2013
      • The ones on the left, with the straw and below it where he’s pouring I believe. At least they look more like coke bottles to me.

        October 9, 2013
        • Maybe not though. The pouring one appears to be the same time as the lunch at the stdio and the bottle on the table look like Pepsi. I suspect they would be the same.

  8. I don’t think so, James!! Maybe where’s he’s sipping thru a straw ( S. A. show)
it’s coke and not Pepsi… I can’t tell? All other bottles shown, imo, are the
genuine Pepsi bottles. Coke bottles were smaller sized.

    • Right, hard to tell. Here’s an inconclusive comparison I posted on your FB
      https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/1383954_752684864748747_42212387_n.jpg

Thanks for the comparison. Even though it ‘wouldn’t make much sense to have both Pepsi and Coke bottles on the table, from your photo I would say Elvis is indeed pouring from a Coke bottle.
There is a 3rd and more wellknown photo of him holding a bottle from that day. But I can’t find that particular pic at the moment. That one might shed more light on this.

        EDIT:
I’ve located the 3rd pic, and I’ve added it to the bottom of the topic. This is clearly a Coke bottle!
There’s Pepsi on the table, but Pepsi-guy Elvis is pouring himself a Coke. Makes sense.

        • Definitely clear there. Thanks for the confirmation.

  9. Ha! Ha! A genuine topic discussion on our site! This must be a first,
right, Bob? From one of the Wertheimer books I remember Al made mention
of the fact one of Elvis his cousins had picked up lunch for everybody involved
in the RCA studio… sandwiches, milk and Cokes…bought at a Bar/Restaurant
across the RCA building. Probably both Cokes & Pepsis? Or The Coke might
have come from a Soda machine standing inside the studio itself?
It’s possible Elvis got himself a coke after they had run out of his favourite
    Pepsi brand during lunch?!
