The Prince Of Paris top 02While he was stationed in Germany, Elvis Presley visited Paris three times. In this article we’ll focus on his first trip to ‘The City Of Lights’, and specifically on June 17, 1959, when Elvis and his entourage stayed at hotel Prince De Galles (Prince Of Wales).

This article is presented as a photo-folio and divided into 4 sections:
1. outside the hotel in uniform
2. outside the hotel in casual wear
3. in the hotel lobby (including the press conference)
4. with Nancy Holloway at the Moulin Rouge

40While attending a show at The Moulin Rouge, Elvis accepted the star of the show’s invitation to please meet him backstage afterwards. Nancy Holloway is an American singer who was very popular in France around the time Elvis was there (and in the 60’s as well).

Moulin '59According to Nancy Holloway’s WEBSITE, her meeting with Elvis took place on June 14th. But Elvis was still in Munich on this date (en route to Paris) and the actual meeting was on the 17th.

Included in the photo section of Nancy’s website, are a couple of nice and interesting images of her and Elvis with the headliner at the Moulin Rouge, Italian singer (Rocco) Torrebruno.

    On the rare color footage taken in Paris, in June 59,

    Elvis is spotted from 00:18 to 00:39 during daytime ;

    but the beginning of the movie focuses on a sidewalk café, the night before (probably on the Champs-Elysees) ;

    from 00:39 to the end, the movie focuses on Parisian girls crossing the Alexander III bridge over the river Seine.

    Again, on the rare color footage taken in Paris, in June 59 :

    It seems, after deeper analysis, that the beginning of the movie was not taken the night before but early in the morning on that same day, although certainly on the (very) shady side of the street.

    Does anyone know the name of the girl with Elvis outside the Hotel?
    She is in a white dress with black stripes. It’s driving me crazy. Thanks.

    Three of the pictures actually confirm the fact that in addition of having that Cadillac available, that he or someone in his entourage took his BMW 507 to Paris.

    Enjoyable as always, but the name of one of the books is Åren med Elvis (The Elvis years). I know that because I wrote it together with my friend Lennart Svedberg. Greetings from Roger Ersson, Sweden

    PS Still have some copies left
