The girls went ‘Aaah …’ when they first witnessed these mag covers!
But yours truly went double ‘Aaah …’ eyeing these rare beauts from the 50’s.
Thanks to Chris Giles at www.theelvisshoplondon.com who generously agreed to scan some of his rare magazines at our request.
Make that triple AAAAAHHH!
With the exception of the Theatre Pictorial cover, never have I seen those
ultra cool mag covers before! Ive seen hundreds over the past half century, and I still
get blown away when ‘new’ rare ones turn up out of the blue!
I’m a 50s printed matter junkie. Always have been. Always will be.
Thanks ever so much, Chris, for the perfect scans. You’re an Ace!
My pleasure to share with like minded people – this is history & should not be lost or hidden away….
Keep on Boppin’….
Never seen these magazines ! Beautiful covers indeed.
Rock and Roll Roundup was a cool publication.
There was Rock n Roll Battlers, Rock n Roll Rivals, Roundup, Rock n Roll Stars ( 3 issues,
all featured Elvis on the cover, Rock n Roll ( a title that must have cost some
brainstorming at the publisher’s office?!)… Any other Rock n Roll titles that you know,
R&B ? Maybe we can do a topic on all the ones we know about? With the help of
ace-collector Jans, Chris a.o ? I’m sure we can find many of the covers, and some of
How do you like things so far on Echoes, R&B?!
I went thru my collection. All the ones you have mentioned are what I have & know of. Then there is also DIG, Hep Cats, Teen Life, and various Hit Paraders ,Rock and Roll Songs and Song Hits mags. (the ones with the lyrics to current hit songs). I love it so far! Fabulous stuff Ger. Of course I got slandered when I mentioned on another site that I was thankful there were no jumpsuits or Clambake pics to be found!
And he STILL sells magazines when he’s on the cover today. I should know!
The Theatre Pictirial is on my wish list for a long time. It’s just so damned expensive.
I never seen those before they are beautiful
Are there any magazines with the reactions of ELvis’ death i think of Prive Story Hitkrant etc
Yes, Cor… at least sixmillionfivehundredthousandandthirtytwo different covers
worldwide, paying tribute to Elvis after his passing in August of 1977…
But we have no intentions to use any of them here on Echoes. We stick to the
1950s and early 60s only.
