Seems like a German programm does not exist for this movie.
For the first time in an Elvis movie we have Elvis singing in an unlikely surounding. The man is singing a song without a trace from the guys who were making the music, although its listed as a remake of the Robbinson/Bogart version, it comes nowhere near that movie … yet I found Elvis’ performance in this wellmade movie by Karlson very entertaining.
The Italy insert is promoting it as a Charles Bronson movie instead of Elvis, and who the hell is Elvy Presley…??? :D
Thats not so uncommon Rene, Charles Bronson was and still is an icon in Italy. The poster you see here is an Italian re-issue from the 70’s focusing on Bronson, this also happened to so many movies that starred Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.
Okay Gerrit de Jong. Thanks. I just wondered why Bronson was billed so big on a movie-poster when Elvis was the headliner … but not in Italy it seems. They even didnt care too get his name right … Elvy Presley.
By the way. I just LOVE this Elvis-site. Soo much cool stuff here you dont see anywhere else.

If it was, I can’t understand why Charles Bronson would get top billing because at that time he was not a big star yet.
Gerrit (the Echoes-movie-expert) already answered Rene’s question regarding the Italian Bronson posters. Around the time Kid Galahad was re-released in Italy, Bronson was indeed the bigger star of the two and thus received top-billing.
The way Bronson is portrayed on the re-release poster/fotobusta’s, with semi-long hair and mustache, is far from how he looked in Kid Galahad. In fact, I have only seen one fotobusta that has him looking like he actually did in 1962 (and not how he looked in the early 70’s).
The Italians are known for their often exclusive artwork. Love it or hate it, they sure knew how to be different!
The ’62 lobby card with Lola Albright was undoubtly the most sexy Elvis Presley lobby card till that date!

… and yes its a crime they billed Elvis as Elvy, but what about poor director Phil Karlson???, who gets a german shepperds name Kerlson … I confess that the Italians made great artwork, just take a look on these pages of Echoes but they had a great imagination … just take a look at the Italian insert of Charro …
Funny to see that in the 70s it was promoted to be a Charles Bronson film. Probably because he was a big actor back then?
In the late 60’s Charles Bronson left the USA for some years and moved to Italy, where he, like Telly Savalas, Clint Eastwood, Bud Spencer, Franco Nero, Terence Hill and James Coburn, became an Italian Cinema Cult star, so yes when it came to re-releasing older films most of the time the original stars lost their billing as did Elvis in Italy.
Its no Rocky or Raging Bull, but at least its no Clambake either!
Sirs, about that Italian poster showing Charles Bronson getting top billing and Elvis’ name being misspelled. It evinces a total lack of respect or ignorance about the man who had already changed the way we look at popular music worldwide. Disgusting!
