Elvis’ Spanish Discography: The Singles
By Bob Pakes
Welcome to the discography of the 45 and 33 1/3 RPM singles that were released by RCA Spain in the 50’s and 60’s!
Elvis’ first single in Spain was Perro De Caza / No Seas Cruel (Hound Dog / Don’t Be Cruel), in 1957. At least 13 different pressings of this single exist, but it seems fair to assume that each pressing must have been in a low quantity since Elvis was virtually unknown when his debut single in Spain was released. Then again, each of these pressings must have sold out rather quickly, encouraging the record company to put out another pressing.
Now, let’s get this Spanish discography into first gear!
Perro De Caza / No Seas Cruel
(Hound Dog / Don’t Be Cruel)
1957 | 3-10052 | 45 RPM
1958 | 3-10052 | 45 RPM
1958 | 3-10052 | 45 RPM
Here we have a Spanish RCA 45 from the same year by a singer named Andy Russell. We can see an identical style for the artwork and use of colors that apparently was common for RCA Spain.
Interesting to note is that Elvis’ first Spanish 45 gets a mention on the backcover.

1960 | 3-10052 | 45 RPM
The cover of this mega-rare pressing is the same as Elvis’ 2nd LP. I only have a very low quality image of this variaton, and it is therefore not shown in this discography.

1962 | 3-10123 | 45 RPM
The photo used for this cover was taken on October 28, 1957, in Los Angeles, when Elvis reprised his infamous performance on the Steve Allen Show by singing to a dog. But this time there were no censors to keep him on a tight leash!
As to why the Spanish Art Department turned Nipper into Spot is beyond me …
1964 | 3-10123 | 45 RPM
Ahora O Nunca / Un Poquito De Azul
(It’s Now Or Never / A Mess Of Blues)

THANKS:
Thanks, as always, to Chris Giles at THE ELVIS SHOP LONDON
A special thanks to Josep Rulló (Spain) for his assistence in putting this Discography together, and for sharing the scans of his record collection.
Even though the existing Spanish Discography, Elvis El Rey En España (as shown to the right), is far from complete, it serves perfectly as the starter’s guide to any Spanish vinyl collector and comes highly recommended.
I can only keep repeating myself on topics such as this: it’s great research
and top notch presentation! Wunderbar. Gracias. Danke. Merci bien …
Some fantastic early 45’s with even rarer sleeves.
More fantastic vinyl Bob, thank you.
Thanks to Chris for his generosity as well.
Look forward to more rare records.

Excellent stuff as always. Thanks.

Can you tell me, where I can buy this book Elvis El Rey En Espana?
Bjørn Christensen from Denmark.
Bjorn Christensen, you can buy that book on eBay!
I had forgotten about this topic completely. Not surprising with the huge amount
of topics available. Well, enjoyed it again fully. Love the Hound Dog variations!
A nice bonus, the original photo that was used for the Hond Dog cover. I clearly
remember buying the Dutch printed ansight kart in a local bookshop, back in
the early 60s…I still have the card.
Fantastic topic!. Thank you Bob.
Awesome as always Bob.
You have a lot of fans of this wonderful site.
keep up the great work that you have always done here.

Hi Bob,
I tried emailing you about some Elvis memorabilia but my email bounced back. Do you have a new email address?
